When we first saw this image we thought it was a render. Then we found out that it's a really real photo from Mountain View in 1990. Wow! Our amazing retro network did som great digging and finally found the photographer Ian E Abbott. And he was super happy to do a collab and share some good retro vibes, and so are we.
Ian Abbott photographed this iconic, mid-20th Century department store in Mountain View, California when he lived nearby and shopped there regularly. He wanted to capture a memory of an age and style that were disappearing rapidly. This store has since closed and been demolished, like countless others of its era. Abbott continues to photograph the constant change and natural beauty of California.
The original photo was a 2-1/4” x 2-1/4” Ektachrome transparency. Professionally-scanned by Scale Up Art in San Francisco, using a Heidelberg S3900 8-bit drum scanner. 2000 dpi. The pictures shown here is low res for web, compared to the actual art prints, which is hi-res.
